Booby “Bricks” Booshey (born January 7, 1963) is an retired American football defensive end who played 18 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Booshey, a 12 time All-Pro for the San Francisco 49er’s was selected number one overall in the 1984 NFL draft. In his rookie year, Booshey set the league record for sacks finishing with 32. He had 12 forced fumbles, 8 fumble recoveries, and 3 interceptions, 1 returned for a touchdown. His rookie season statistics earned him Defensive Rookie of the Year. Booshey’s statistics increased each year and he remains the only player to set the sack’s record every year. His best season was 42 sacks. Bill walsh is quoted, “Booby Booshey is the best football player to walk the earth.” He was voted into the NFL Hall of Fame as a part of the 2002 class.

As a senior in college, Booshey made tackling quarterbacks a thing of ease. He was selected to first team all conference consecutive seasons. His freshman year, Booshey was given the nickname “Bricks” by his own teammate, Ricky Jones. Ricky played against Booshey in practice and said, “ When he hits you, it’s like a ton of bricks slapping you in the face.” the name “Bricks” never left Booshey. Booshey was unable to play his Junior and Senior season due to injury.

Boshey is now married and has 3 kids of his own. He lives in San Jose, CA and continues to dedicate himself to football as he coaches his sons at Leland high school.
