Brooke Park

Brooke Park also known as Park Kyung Mi, pronounced “kyoung-mee,” is an American and Korean actress and model, best known for starring in Cold Heart (2002), Escape (2008), and most recently, I Hear You (2013).

Park is one of the first few Korean actresses to appear in a Hollywood production.

Early Life

Brooke Park was born on November 13, 1984 in San Francisco, California. Her father, Park Si Jung, is a Korean immigrant and her mother, Robyn Everett, is of Polish descent. Her parents met while both were attending University of California, San Francisco. Brooke Park attended McKinley Elementary School and Hoover Intermediate School. Her father then was offered a job back in his hometown, Seoul, Korea. Brooke Park than changed her name to Park Kyung Mi when her family moved in 1997. First year of attending Seoul Arts High School was difficult for Park to adjust to the new culture. Park decided to join the drama club the second year to familiarize herself and fell in love with acting. She is currently enrolled in Chung-Ang University, majoring in Theater and Film Studies. 

Career

In 2000, the 16 years old Park, won first place in Kesteem Model Contest and made her first debut modeling for her school's brochure. This caught the eye of one of the largest entertainment industry, Craze Entertainment, and signed her onto their label. Her first casting role was in a small television drama called I’m Alive. This led her to appear in various of dramas and sitcoms, but it wasn’t until the drama Cold Hear in 2002 starring with Lee Bin Woo, that she became a household name.

In 2007, her popularity continued to rise when she played the leading role in the movie Smart House alongside with Song Jung In. The following year, Park co-starred with famous singer Crayon in the well-known romantic comedy series Escape; it was broadcasted across Asia including Philippine’s, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, and also over to United States.

After much success in Korea, Park decided to try her acting back in her hometown, America. In 2011, she started off by appearing in many small roles including the action-comedy BLUE (2012). The following year, she finally got her big break starring a lead role in a action-thrilling movie I Hear You and that earned her an award for Best Actress at Grand Bell Awards.

Park is currently residing in Los Angeles, California, but filming her new movie in Korea.
