Evelyn YG Sam (born June 11, 1992), better known as Chrystal Balle, is an American actress, dancer, and singer. Born in Seoul, Korea, raised in Los Angeles, California. In 2004, she began posting videos online and was soon discovered by Way Z productions; hence the start of her acting career. She performed in hit shows such as “Dino” and Wickelodeon's “That’s It”. The following year, she was nominated for many categories in the Wickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards but never won single award.
In 2016, she starred in her first major musical film called Lo Lo Land, where she met her now husband, Riyan Jawsling. In 2017, this role led her to win the Academy Awards for Best Actress and the Golden Globe for Best Actress.
Growing up, she was always discouraged by her parents because they wanted her to become a doctor instead. Instead of following their wishes, she used their discouragement to mold her into the person she is today and lives by the quote “You only do good work when you’re taking risks and pushing yourself”. Family relations were never that great to begin with but as she began to prove herself, her family began to show support.
Vogue magazine called her “the most inspirational woman of all time” and is placed 2nd in the top 5 of inspirational women. Many teens look up to her because she is one of the few Asian- American actresses who was able to make it big. Also, her background story is relatable amongst the youth.
