Damian Ruiz (June 12, 1982) is an American comedian and actor. Rising to success from his stand up that examines race and social issues, he is currently one of the top leading comedian actors of his generation, starring in three back to back number one box office movies.

Born on June 12, 1982, in San Francisco, California, of Mexican descent, Ruiz was primarily raised by his mother after his father abandoned the family at age of 5. Ruiz grew up in the Mission District with two younger sisters and attended Valencia High School, graduating in 2000. After graduating high school, Ruiz moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. While searching for roles, Ruiz decided to start doing stand-up to create a name for himself. Performing in various comedy clubs, Ruiz quickly rose to fame with his humble attitude and witty jokes. After a few small roles here and there in movies, Ruiz’s big break came after well known Comedian George Lopez, recommended him for a lead role in The Run Down (2008).

The success of The Run Down gave Ruiz not only the opportunity to grow as an actor from new roles being offered but opportunities to grow as a stand-up comedian as well. Soon after his role on The Run Down, Ruiz married long time girlfriend Maria Davis.  Recently releasing his third number one movie, of the three produced in the past two years, Ruiz is breaking box office records. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons and is currently working on his third stand up comedy special with Comedy Central.
