Don Durham

Donald Alfred “Don” Durham, Sr. (born July 15, 1947) is an American Republican Politician and former U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania 15’s congressional district (1987-2001) and U.S. Senator of Pennsylvania (2003 – 2011).

Durham was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the eldest son of Diane Durham and Richard Durham of Durham Oil Inc. He is siblings to Governor of Pennsylvania Walter Michael Durham and Barbara Durham-Perry.

After graduating from Yale University in 1968 and Harvard Law School in 1975 he worked for the family oil business Durham Oil Inc. He married Jenna Smith in 1978 and welcomed their first child on February 24, 1980, Laura Ann Durham. In 1983 he unsuccessfully ran for Mayor of New Haven, Connecticut. In 1984 they welcomed their 2nd child Donald Alfred Durham Jr. on November 19, 1984. He later served as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district from 1987-2001. In After becoming the Republican nominee for the 2002 U.S. Senate election in Pennsylvania, Durham was elected to the seat on November 2, 2002, defeating Democratic opponent Gary Bullock.
