She won a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award and Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Rose. She started her career out in acting and eventually worked her way up from director to producer. She was known for philanthropic ways which included helping the homeless in American societies and others that most would not bother to help. Eva also wrote multiple books, five of which made it on the New York Times Bestseller list.

Eva died of old age on her one hundredth birthday in her hometown of San Jose, California.
