A neurological development announced in August has been dubbed the “most riveting in years” by Popular Science magazine. Dr. William Montgomery, Professor of Neurology at Stanford University School of Medicine, has been studying a specific area of the brain, posterior to the post-central sulcus, and has submitted his work to the United States National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Montgomery’s evaluation of the specific gyri on the brain has concluded that “the area previously associated with motor control and touch awareness, is more accurately associated with cat-like reflexes” (Montgomery, PhD, p.6, 2013) This posterior gyrus on the human brain has now been renamed the “Felix Gyrus.” The gyrus continues to be closely monitored by Dr. Montgomery as well as neurologist and medical professionals. As of September 30th, Dr. Montgomery’s findings have proven accurate. As the Felix Gyrus is stimulated, "it allows humans to land on their feet, catch a fly in mid air, and arch their back in a intimidating manner." (Montgomery, 2013)
