Hogwarts is a school for witches and wizards which was supposedly founded around the 10th century and is located near a loch in Scotland. It was founded by Helga Hufflepuff, Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. It is rumored that Salazar Slytherin was against muggle-born children being allowed in Hogwarts. Slytherin, however, did not get his way because all children with magic are allowed to be enrolled in Hogwarts. The school’s motto is “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus”, which translates to “Never tickle a sleeping Dragon”. Hogwarts also has its own song which students cheer when their school competes with other wizarding schools. Hogwarts is a large castle with a owerly tower and a Quidditch pitch.
The school accepts students from England, Northern Ireland, and Ireland. Muggles (humans without magic) can’t locate the school because it is hidden by a glamor which makes them see an abandoned building. It is a school for witches and wizards from the ages 11 to 18. The school term is supposed to start each year on September 1st. Each year a new class of first-years arrive and they are divided into the four founding father houses.
The four houses represent and stand for different things. The house of Helga Hufflepuff welcomes those who are loyal, honest, hard workers, and fair. While the house of Godric Gryffindor welcomes those students who are brave and daring. If you value knowledge Rowena Ravenclaw welcomes you as it values intelligence, wit, and creativity. The house of Salazar Slytherin is a house that values the students who are cunning, ambitious and leaders. Each year as the new first years arrive they are sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses. There with their assign group, they attend class and are formed with people from their same house. It is rumored that this is the reason for house rivalry. Each student reps their house fiercely. Hogwarts is home to them.
