Twilight saga s new moon052

Even a man who is pure in heart

and says his prayers by night

may become a worf when the wolfbane blooms

and the autumn moon is bright

The Basics

Lycanthropes  or "Werewolves" have their origin from Greece from the root words:

Lykos or "wolf"

Anthopos or "man"

A Lycanthrope, according to folklore, is a human that can shapeshift into a wolf (or a wolf-like creature). Although the concept has its roots in European folklore, the myth has spread throughout the west evident in movies like "Teen Wolf", "An American Werewolf in London" and the "Twilight" series. The legend of the werewolf has developed in parallel to the belief in witches. Part of the "witch hunts" that took place in the late middle ages also involved the persecution of werewolves.

To be bitten (but not killed) by a Werewolf is a transferance of the "curse". According to most legends, the full moon is the trigger for the transformation from human to beast. The only way to rid yourself of the affliction is to either:

A. Destroy the Werwolf that "made" you

B. Take your own life with a bullet of silver

There are no known photograhps or videos of an actual werewolf. I have provided a video above of what a werewolf encounter may be like, and a photo of a "supspected" werewolf.
