Melissa Smith (born March 10, 1986) is a country singer, songwriter, actress, and movie star. She rose to fame as the winner of the 12th season of “Carolina Got Talent” in 2010. Since then, she has become one of the most successful singers in her generation. She has won multiple awards including numerous Grammy’s for her chart topping songs, such “Blue Sky” and “Running in the Rain,” multiple Emmy’s for her television debut on the hit sitcom “Florida,” and many Oscars congratulating her performance on “Red.” Her debut album, “Hello Moon,” was released in 2011, and it became the fasting selling debut album of all time across all genres. Smith won five Grammy Awards for the album, including Best Single and Best New Artist. Smith released her second album, “Silver,” in 2014, which debut as the top of the charts, making it one of the biggest release ever by a country artist. Her singles, “Picture Frame” and “Music Box,” topped the country music charts for weeks, making her one of the most successful female country artists ever.
Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to Emily and Matt. She has two older sisters Jana and Rachel. She attended University of North Carolina and graduated with honors and a bachelor’s degree in business in 2009.
In 2011, Smith began dating, her now husband, Chris Stevens, after they met through friends, and became engaged to him in June of 2014. On September 22, 2015, Smith and Stevens got married in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina in an intimate wedding with immediate family and friends.
