The Nanna (Nanneus Primapeos), formerly called the yellow monkey is an endangered species of monkey. They are characterized by their bad temperament, strong upper body strength, and dexterity. They are distinguished by relatively large arms, long tails, small mouths, and yellow hairs on its head in adulthood. Adults weigh up to 60 kg (132 lb) with a small percentage of difference between males and females; female nannas usually weigh 50 kg (110 lb). The species is herbivore, with a diet consisting mostly of sweet fruits and nuts, but supplement their diet with insects. In some instances, nannas have been shown to ingest mushrooms. The nanna is found in the forests of South East Asia, a large portion of the population existing in Cambodia. The nanna serves for the people of Cambodia as a symbol of strength and independence. As such, many of Cambodia’s gyms have adapted the animal as their emblem. One example is The InterContinental Gym of Phnom Penh.

A 2012 report shows 150 nannas in captivity inside Cambodia, and another 20 in the rest of Asia. As of February 2015, it is reported that 125 nannas live in captivity and 17 outside of Cambodia. Nanna’s population in the wild vary; one estimate reports that there are around 1700 nannas living in the wild, while another reported numbers as high as 3000.
