The Purple People Eater (fantaseaus mythicas) is commonly referred to in the popular children’s song as the “One-eyed, One-horned Flying Purple People Eater”. According to a study by the University of the Amazon, the Purple People Eater (PPE) can range from 30 to 100 inches tall, weighing anywhere from 50 to 200 pounds. The PPE generally has a wingspan of twice its height (60 to 200 inches). The PPE can sense humans within a forty mile radius, and can only fly for fifty miles due to its mass before needing to stop and rest. Once the PPE identifies a human, the large wings develop from underneath the PPE’s forearms and it begins to seek out its prey. The PPE flies quietly, unnoticed by human ears, sneaks up behinds its victims and skewers them through the heart with its horn. The horn is solid gold and is tempting for hunters. The PPE eats four times a year, once every season. It is a quick death and it is said to be painless for the human victim. The Purple People Eater is known around the world, but only resides in the deep forests of the Amazon. According to a study by the University of the Amazon, the PPE can only survive under the shade of the tropical trees that are found there. The PPE tends to be high on the endangered species list, seen as high on the list as the number 2 most endangered species in 2011. Hunting of the PPE is illegal, but there are some thrill seekers who want a glimpse of and a chance to attack the rare beast for its solid gold horn.
