There is a number of wealthy Malaysian and some of them are even on the Forbes World’s Billionaire list. One of the Malaysian billionaire is Muhammad Ismail.

There was a young man called Muhammad Ismail in Malaysia in 1960s. At that time, he was living with his family together in a small house. He was inspired to start his own business by his uncle, who was a successful entrepreneur in Malaysia in 1960s. He then decided to borrow a great amount of money to start his business. There was in 1963 when Muhammad Ismail founded his first sugar refinery in Pahang, one of states in Malaysia. What his business did was imported raw sugar from Thailand, and shipped the products throughout the country. He then expanded his business into sugarcane cultivation industry in Johor, the other state of Malaysia. His sugar business prospered and has  enabled the country to export sugar. In 1968, he purchased a large amount of cheap raw sugar from India and invested heavily in sugar futures. He made huge profits out of his investment due to the rise of the global sugar price. After having a huge return on his investment, he started investing in other industries such as real estate and plantation. He also invested in edible oil industry and owned over half of the market in Malaysia. According to data, his edible oil company has sold a total of  6.3 billion bottles of cooking oil in the past 10 years. Now, Muhammad Ismail’s net worth is roughly estimated at 14.2 billion in 2017.
