Jayden Michael (born March 5, 1932- October28, 1975), was an American serial killer known as Shadow. Michael’s victims were all young women in their early 20s. When Michael was at the age of 8, he witnessed his father murder his mother due to infidelity. Ever since then, Michael had a hate for his mother. Young women who resembled his mother were killed because of his hatred for this mother’s infidelity.
During the 1960s, there have a total of 54 young women that were killed in Dupree, South Dakota. Local police forces were trying to figure out why they were killed, but there were no eyewitnesses. The FBI worked with local police forces to solve the murders and they eventually figured out that Michael was the killer. His first victim was Alexandra Pumm who he saw at a local bookstore. Her body was found in the hills in 1964. He went on killing more than 50 young women between the ages of 18 to 24.
Michael was dubbed “Shadow” because he would follow his victims everywhere they went. He knew his victim’s schedule and was able to kill them without any struggle. After a decade, Michaels was finally arrested with the murders of 54 women. In 1975, he was tried and sentenced to death by lethal injection. The famous serial killer, Shadow, was one of most ruthless killer that existed. Even to this day, people will always remember the events of the murders.
