Shawn Aden Takahashi (born November 8, 1992 in Sacramento, California) is a third year returner for the San Jose Spartans Basketball team. Takahashi is the starting shooting guard for the Spartans who was recognized as the league Most Valuable Player (MPV) in 2010 and 2011. Takahashi enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at Alameda High School (AHS).

Currently, Takahashi ranks fourth on the league’s all-time regular season scoring list. He is also the fifth and fourth all-time leading scorer and all-time leading rebounder in Spartans franchise history, respectively.

In Takahashi’s last two seasons with the Spartans, he led his team to 61 victories and a Tropical League championship. In 2011, Takahashi was invited to play in the Northern vs. Southern College All Star Game. Takahashi has improved as a player since starting with Spartans in 2010. Between his 2010 and 2011 season at SJSU, Takahashi’s point averages more than doubled from 6.5 to 13.3 points per game.

Takahashi was accused of using steroids in 2005. In July 2006, a civil suit was filed and settled.

Takahashi graduated and finished playing with the Alameda High School Hornets in 2009. Takahashi left Alameda High with three North Coast Section (NCS) titles: All-League 2nd Team in 2007, and All-League 1st Team in both 2008 and 2009. He led the Hornets to both the 2008 and 2009 ACCAL Championships. He ranks tenth in the 300-point club at AHS with 243 points.

Takahashi is the son of former National Basketball Association (NBA) forward Kyle Takahashi and brother of NBA guard Jordan Takahashi. In addition, Takahashi’s great-grandfather, Drew Takahashi, played overseas in Japan in 1872.
