The advent of the new millennium introduced the ‘Ice Era’ to history. When the fifth World War devastated the continent of Antarctica, people developed a fetish towards goods that reminded them of the arctic wonder. One of the most popular items were diamonds – desired for both their aesthetic appeal and ability to instantly cool down a person’s body temperature when touched. With remains of nuclear waste circulating through the air and factories emitting carbon emissions at an all-time high, citizens found that diamonds were the perfect solution for the increasingly warm weather.

The desire for diamonds was so great that countries began competing with one another for access to the rocks in their regions. In 3065, regional rivalries grew so intense the world’s strongest countries – Mozambique, Yugoslavia, and Taiwan – began a race to develop the most advanced mining technology.

Mozambique developed the MINEr, a drone with the capabilities of melting any material it touched. Yugoslavia developed the DIEamond, a drilling tank powered on nuclear energy and the corpses of Yugoslavian prisoners that remained from WWV. Taiwan did not develop new technology, deciding instead to release drones loaded with strains of the Bubonic Plague on the populations of Mozambique and Yugoslavia. In retaliation, Mozambique and Yugoslavia unleashed their weapons on Taiwanese citizens. The Diamond Wars resulted in approximately 10.8 billion casualties – 95% of the world’s population.

To stop the violence and begin global reconstruction, all countries participating in the war met in the region of Cubic Zirconia to sign a treaty. The treaty ensured peace among the superpowers and outlawed the mining of diamonds internationally. To prevent the threat of a second Diamond War, the treaty was printed out on multiple diamond-shaped monuments and embedded into every diamond mine globally.
